The New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has launched an exciting opportunity for small retail businesses and dairies. They are offering a subsidy of $4,000 towards the installation of a fog cannon, aimed at providing enhanced security measures for these establishments.
To be eligible for this subsidy, businesses must have no more than 2 outlets, a maximum of 5 paid employees, and a street frontage location. Outlets located within indoor malls where security is already provided will not qualify.
The application process is simple and straightforward. Retailers interested in this offer can visit the business.govt.nz website and fill out the application form. Business verification details will be required, along with a declaration of eligibility. Once the form is submitted, retailers will receive confirmation of their voucher code, which they can use when working with a supplier to get the fog cannon installed.
Potential fog cannon providers can continue to register to be a part of the panel through the Government Electronic Tender Service. The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment will be onboarding providers continuously throughout the duration of the scheme.
Once the fog cannon is installed, the provider will invoice the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment for the full $4,000 subsidy. Retailers will be responsible for paying the remaining balance to the provider. If retailers filled out an expression of interest form in December 2022 or January 2023, they will receive a follow-up on how to apply, but still need to complete the application form.
In conclusion, this is a fantastic opportunity for small retail businesses and dairies to upgrade their security measures and protect their establishments. To find out more about eligibility and to apply for the fog cannon subsidy, visit the business.govt.nz fog cannon subsidy page.
